"The weeping man'' or ''The crying Frenchman''

"The weeping man'' or ''The crying Frenchman'' is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and representative images of the German invasion of France in 1940. The man in the photo was assumed to be a Parisian weeping as he watched Wehrmacht troops parade through the streets of his city. However, that's wrong. In fact the image was taken several months later in Marseilles, as the French population was bidding farewell to their troops and flags as they embarked in the port on their way to the colonies. The man his name was Jerôme Barzetti, and his image became extremely popular after being published in the American magazine Life in March 1941. Source: Rare Historical Photos Thank you for reading.
