I've been terrible at posting of late - life is getting hectic, so here's the mummified man formally known as Ginger - and he didn't die peacefully. He was found as part of a group of 6 naturally mummified bodies, known as the Gebelein predynastic mummies, which were found in shallow sand graves near Gebelein (today, Naga el-Gherira) in Egypt. Dating has shown he lived around 3400BC in the late Predynastic period of Ancient Egypt (so about 300 years before the unification of Egypt and the first Pharaoh). Although the name Ginger - given to the man due to his tufts of red hair - is no longer used due to recent ethical policies for human remains, I'm still going to use it, as it sounds better than "the mummy" *cue Brendan Fraser*. Ginger, aka 'Gebelein Man,' was found to be around 18 to 21 years old at the time of his death.
