Here we see twelve-year old Kazimiera Mika, devastated, leaning over her dead sister after a German air raid against civilian targets in Warsaw .1939. The American photographer and film maker Julien Bryan who visited Warsaw at the time realized that it was too late to get out of the city when the German siege had begun. He decided to photograph and record the terror and destruction that was brought upon the people in the city. His words: "As we drove by a small field at the edge of town we were just a few minutes too late to witness a tragic event, the most incredible of all.
