The woman, said to be drunk, was having a shower when she realised the fire had taken hold of her fifth-floor apartment. She rushed to the balcony as enormous 20ft flames lashed the property. The drama, in St Petersburg, Russia, was captured by stunned onlookers, as the woman cowered in a corner for safety. Sadly another man aged 75 in the same flat is reported to have died. Fire crews used a ladder on the outside of the apartment block to reach the balcony.
