Lee Harvey Oswald Attempted To Assassinate A US Army General Before Targeting JFK On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while riding in his motorcade during a trip to Dallas. Authorities believed at the time that the assassin was a man named Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald went on to shoot a police officer and was arrested in a movie theatre about 90 minutes after the assassination. Two days later, Oswald himself was killed by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby.
