Tina Michelle Fontaine Tina age 15 was raised primarily by her great aunt and uncle after her father, Eugene Fontaine, was diagnosed with Cancer. Eugene was later beaten to death in 2011. Tina's aunt and uncle describe her as a good kid who generally stayed out of trouble until the beginning of 2014 when she began to visit her biological mother, Valentina Duck, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The two had started to rebuild their relationship following Eugene's death. Valetina had a known history of drinking and working in the sex trade. However, Tina received permission from her social worker to continue visits. Tina really began to withdraw from her caregivers once she was asked to prepare a victim's impact statement about her father's murder. In June of 2014, Tina's aunt gave her $50 dollars and a calling card in case she wanted to return home early, and sent her off on her last visit to Winnipeg.
