“The Friendship Kiss” Late Post, Sorry! 74 years ago, the war in Europe ended, putting the 6 year conflict to an end. Pictured above is a Russian and US soldier caught in the heat of the moment, while having a celebration dinner in Germany, 1945. The casualties on the Western Front was some 3,000,000 soldiers either killed in action, missing in action, or wounded in action, and of those numbers these soldiers came from the United Kingdom, Canada, America, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Australia and many many more countries. On the Eastern Front, the Soviets lost anywhere between 8.6 million and 10 million soldiers. These numbers are substantially high, and this is why I'm saying the feeling that these two soldiers were feeling once they found out the war in Europe was over is just unimaginable.
