Construction workers find a soldier who was buried a long way from home, 2017
In April of 2017, construction workers unearthed a strange box while working on a building project in northeastern Ardahan, Turkey.
The box was in fact a coffin, which was covered with orthodox crosses. Inside, the remains of a man with black boots and a red beard were found, still dressed in a military uniform. They needed to see if the person inside had been dead recently or if this coffin had been buried much earlier.
The identity of the man was not known, however, records and the rank shown on his uniform revealed that the man was Lt. Col. Karl Karlovich Rjepetski. Rjepetski was active in First Caucasus Army Corps' 20th Infantry Division. He died in 1894 due to illness. His death certificate says he died due to a brain heamorrage
The remains were taken to a museum to be analysed. However, they were reburied in a modern graveyard.
Rjepetski’s family was from the Volynskyi region of western Ukraine. He trained at an infantry military school in Warsaw, and it is believed that his wife and two daughters lived in Tbilisi, Grodno and Moscow after his death.
He may be dead for 130 years, but my god does the drip still go hard as f*ck
