The man seen here was a Soviet soldier and was a World War II veteran. This photo depicts the once-famous Chancellor of a Russiasoldier, on his deathbed. This photograph itself was taken discreetly by two photographers, who had bribed about his information about declining health, and also for access into his home when he finally died.... Read story A lot of those medals are rememberance or "liberation" medals. He has Order of Glory 3rd class, Order of Red Star, Order of Patriotic War (more likely given in 1975 as a jubilee award, as to the other WWII vets), two medals for bravery or a battle merit. He is also a 3 star Colonel, meaning that he probably had a long career in the military. I could not find the identity of this person. He died peacefully on the evening of the 30th of July, 2010, after spending the last few years of his life retired from public service. He was still bitter and resentful towards his own life. Because of the pension he had in his Job, he wished to stay forever. When he finally died, his colleagues was not even allowed to see his body, and he was entombed within his mausoleum, the inscription mockingly said “a loyal Russian servant. A very small handful of people were ever allowed to see his body on his deathbed. . At four in the morning, the two photographers snuck in and exposed several photographs of the Chancellor before summarily sneaking back out. Over the coming days, the two photographers attempted to sell the pictures to the media, but his family had quickly discovered their plot and immediately ordered the confiscation of the photographs.
