Why can’t we understand, that institutional racism is an inherited dilemma facing black people. Our old guard leadership which is predominantly black had over 25yrs to create systematic change but instead they keep treating this horrendous issue of inequality like is a sickness, or a virus that can be prevented with masks and sanitizers - a defiant lie perpetuated by the ugly child of an economic system that produces too many injustices, the act of immorality that is now showing the cracks without shame.
The old guard has forgotten that they were once young, moved and energized by the will to fight inequality, their moral compass was rightly placed and justice prevailed, at least for the few who quickly joined the capital wagon and the majority were given a glorified constitution, which is great only on paper. And when rights are exercised to fight inequalities within the ideals of a democratic society, the moral compass shifts, instead of protecting the rights of citizens, the old guard emerges as legends of massacre, stripping away the dignity of a black man.
Any sight or images like this, of black man kneeled on, dragged naked from what is his temporary shelter is a perpetual reminder that democratic dispensation has no moral compass and it is armed with artificial fixes. Any serious conversation about systemic racism and economic imbalances requires firstly a lot more younger thinkers and innovators but more a serious turnabout, total reframing of rules and practices that will allow a black person to own land and businesses and that must come with substantial allocation of resources to afford a new moral compass that puts people first.
A new organizational power is needed to act on the energy and urgency of the time and look to build a movement that generates new sources of cultural manifestations of a caring society that will disrupt the old guard moral act of greed and corruption.
