Steven Edward "Stevie" Branch
(November 26, 1984 - May 5, 1993)
Stevie passed away when he was 8 years old. He went missing while he was playing outside with his two friends, Chris Byers and Michael Moore (both also eight) in West Memphis, Arkansas. Sadly, all three boys' bodies were discovered in a creek the next morning. They had all been stripped naked, hogtied by their shoelaces, and mutilated. The autopsy found that Chris had died of multiple injuries, while Stevie and Michael had both died from multiple injuries and drowning.
Originally, three teenagers, who became known as the "West Memphis Three", were accused of committing the murders as part of a satanic ritual. The men were arrested, and later convicted of murdering the three boys. However, in 2007, new forensic evidence was presented, and the men were believed by most to be innocent. In 2012, they accepted an Alford plea and were released, after having served 18 years in prison. Sadly, the murders remain unsolved, and no one else has been charged in the case.
Stevie was a kind, bright, and friendly little boy. He was a second grader at Weaver Elementary School, and was an honor student. He enjoyed playing with his friends and riding his bike. Stevie is greatly missed by those who loved him.
Rest in peace, Stevie! <3à
