Abigail Brown Hung Herself While Trying To End A Fight With Her Boyfriend
Abigail Brown and her boyfriend, James Brum, got into an argument on January 7, 2017. Brum left for a few hours to give both of them some space to cool down. However, when he returned, he found his girlfriend hanging from a rope in their Thailand home. An investigation into Brown's death discovered that the 26-year-old was trying to get back at her boyfriend by scaring him. There is no indication that she was attempting to actually take her own life. A British backpacker found hanged in her hotel room in Thailand had been having a row about 'silly things' with her boyfriend. Abigail Brown, 26, from Waterlooville, Hampshire, was found by her boyfriend, James Brum, in their apartment in the seaside resort of Phuket The Sun reported Thai police saying the couple had argued at the White Room nightclub in Patong beach after she saw him chatting up other women. Thai police have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Miss Brown's death. Miss Brown had recently trained at the Tiger Muay Thai camp close to the apartment she shared with Mr Brum, 30, a professional mixed martial arts fighter. The couple spent the evening watching a film together. She returned to the apartment alone at 3.20am and her boyfriend found her three hours later. According to police Miss Brown was found with injuries consistent with suicide and briefed local media there was nothing to indicate she had been assaulted prior to her death. Her body is due to be repatriated tomorrow. The cause of the argument between the couple is unknown. Miss Brown regularly posted updates on social media in Mr Brum's company and had referred to him on more than one occasion as 'the hubby'. She had joked with friends online that she was 'still working' on their engagement. Miss Brown had been living in Thailand since August 2016. Last night tributes were paid to Miss Brown – known to friends as Abi Rowland after her mother Jane remarried – who was described as somebody who 'excelled in everything' by her half-brother Will Rowland in a post on social media. Mr Rowland said: 'As some of you may already of heard, on Saturday my older sister Abi sadly passed away. 'I honestly couldn't of asked for a better older sister, she always excelled in everything and always kept me and everyone around her so, so proud. 'Words can't describe how much she will be missed and how much she meant to us all, I have lost a big part of me and my life. Abi was honestly one of a kind still can't believe it.' Lieutenant Somkiet Sarasit said: 'The only injuries found were around her neck and that these coincide with her being hanged by the bedsheet. 'The young woman hanged herself. There was no fighting and no cuts to her body. 'The man said that they had been out together. They had an argument and she returned early. They had been fighting about silly things.' Mr Brum's father Stanley told The Sun: 'It's so sad and he must be in such shock but we want to support him and help Abi's family in any way we can.' His wife Cecilia said: 'Abi was a very nice girl, always lovely to talk to. They were in Thailand having a great time. But I do miss James a lot. This news is so sad.' Her friend, Laura Cave, said on social media: 'My heart is broken, words can't even describe how much I will miss you. Your presence would light up every room. 'I will forever treasure all of the precious memories we shared together, your beautiful soul, infectious smile, cheeky personality and our weird personal jokes. 'You touched my life in only a short amount of time, you are one of a kind and I am forever grateful to have crossed paths with you. 'Rest in peace my beautiful girl, I will miss you forever.' A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: 'We are providing support to the family of a British national who died in Phuket, Thailand on January 7.'
