Two rescue workers climbed the remaining distance and secured the man with a rope harness. They had previously preserved the unidentified man's compromised modesty by handing him a towel to cover himself The bridge was then slowly lowered back down. The man is believed to have been previously nude swimming in the New River, before he attempted the risky short cut. The man's acute embarrassment was no doubt increased when onlookers began to gather, many of them filming the bizarre rescue.
