The frightening moment a P-plater dices with death by hanging out of a car window as her friend speeds down a freeway

This is the frightening moment a P-plater is caught hanging out of a car window as her friend speeds down a freeway. The passenger can be seen sitting on the door with her entire torso outside of the Hyundai Accent as the driver travels along Maryborough Hervey Bay Road, north of Brisbane. A concerned motorist contacted police with dash cam footage of the incident and officers worked to identify two women, who both held P-plate licences. The driver was questioned by police and issued with two traffic infringement notices totaling six demerit points and more than $700 in fines. The passenger was also issued similar traffic infringement notices, also totaling six demerit points and more than $700 in fines. Both the driver and passenger lost their licences through demerit point accumulation. A police spokesperson said officers will often see 'crazy things' while patrolling and receive reports from the public about motoring offences. Police said they are concerned this type of behaviour is occurring.

Police praised the concerned motorist for submitting the footage, saying it greatly assists them keeping the roads safe. Police are very grateful for this type of footage and are asking the public when reporting any types of traffic incidents, if you have video footage please consider submitting this with the complaint as it greatly assists police in their investigations to help keep our road users safe,' the police spokesperson said.
