A couple enjoying a day on their boat were left stunned after finding a deer hanging by its neck from a bridge on Tuesday. The deer was spotted hanging from a noose tied to Alford's Point Road bridge over the Georges River, south of Sydney. The pictures were taken by a woman named Kristie, who spoke to 9 News about the horrific incident. A deer has been left hanging by its neck (pictured) from a bridge as fishermen and boats with young children passed by She said she was enjoying the calm of the Georges River with her husband when they spotted the deer from quiet a distance away. 'It was just hanging there dead and the rope had been tied to the rail at the top and tied like a noose around the deer's neck. (My husband) said, 'Oh my God, why would someone do this?' Kristie told 9 News. 'What type of person would do that to an animal? I just hope the deer wasn't alive when it was hung over the side of the bridge,' she told The Sydney Morning Herald. The NSW Department of Primary Industries states a hunter must hold a license to hunt wild deer, unless they are a land owner, employees of land owners, Aboriginal persons hunting pursuant to native title. The hunter may also only do so in accordance with imposed pest sanctions or a veterinarian killing the animal due to illness or injury. It also explicitly states a deer must be killed in the most humane way possible.
