Police reportedly found a man in a compromising position after a three-hour pursuit during which he allegedly drove at 180km/h while on bail. A Melbourne man has been charged after a three-hour pursuit across Melbourne reportedly ended in a compromising position. Police spotted a red Volkswagen Golf just before midnight on Monday allegedly travelling with false plates at 180km/h in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. It is alleged the man was driving 100km/h over the 80km/h limit on Minns Rd in Kurunjang. 7 News reported that when police finally stopped the car, the man was found having intercourse with a 23-year-old woman. The pursuit lasted three hours, with police eventually deploying road spikes to burst the Golf’s tyres. Two tyres were taken out at the Coburns Rd intersection, slowing the car. However, the driver allegedly refused to pull over, prompting officers to call in air support. The vehicle was followed in the Melton area by the air wing helicopter before ground units returned to the chase on the Western Highway. By this stage, police allege the Golf’s wheels had deflated down to the rims and the car had slowed to just 40km/h. The vehicle travelled over the Westgate Freeway and along Monash Freeway before reaching Heatherton Rd and turning around. Around 3am, road spikes were deployed at the Domain Tunnel and the car allegedly stopped at Montague St in South Melbourne. A 27-year-old Fawkner man was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, commit indictable offences while on bail, breach of bail and possess controlled weapon. He will appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. A 23-year-old Maryborough woman was released without charge
